Updates, Events, and Academic Highlights
Welcome to Middle School Science
“Middle school science covers three main areas: life science (cells, body systems, and ecosystems), physical science (matter, energy, and forces), and earth science (weather, space, and the rock cycle). Students use experiments and evidence to ask questions, test ideas, and solve problems.”
In social studies, students examine histories, governments, geography, and economies — including the history and government of the Navajo Nation — and practice working with sources, weighing perspectives, and supporting a conclusion with evidence.
Support at Home
Parents can help by:
- Ask what question their class is investigating right now and what they think the answer will be.
- Let them explain an experiment to you — teaching it back is how the understanding sticks.
- Notice science at home: weather, cooking, the night sky, engines, plants, and animals are all fair game.
- Talk about current events and local news, and ask what they think and why.
- Connect school topics to family and community history and to teachings from elders.
- Check the school portal together for lab reports, projects, and due dates.
- Limit screen time before bed and keep a consistent bedtime routine.
