Academic Updates

At Leupp Schools, Inc., we believe every child deserves a strong start in a safe, caring, and culturally enriching environment. Our Kindergarten and First Grade program helps young learners build confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning as they develop foundational skills while honoring the traditions and values of the Navajo Nation.

Our highly qualified teachers provide hands-on learning experiences that develop:

  • Early literacy and reading
  • Mathematics and problem solving
  • Social-emotional learning
  • Navajo language and culture
  • Art, physical education, and technology

We partner closely with families to ensure every child is prepared for success throughout their educational journey.

Support at Home

Parents can help by:

  • Read together every day for 15–20 minutes. Review Sight Words.
  • Practice the following: writing your child’s name, cutting, reviewing the letters of the alphabet and letter sounds, review the Days of the Week, and Months of the Year.
  • Help your child practice counting from 0–20. The more your child practices counting real objects, the stronger their number sense becomes!
  • Discuss your child’s school day and review their work at home.
  • Help your child build independence through self-dressing, cleaning up after themselves, and developing good handwashing habits.
  • Practice K’é (kindness and respect).
  • Limit screen time before bed.
  • Establish a regular bedtime routine.
