Academic Updates

FACE — Family and Child Education — works with the whole family, not just the student. The program supports parents as their child’s first and most important teacher, and it keeps language, culture, and family strength at the center. Its motto says it plainly: Keeping the Circle Strong.

FACE at Leupp supports families through:

  • Early learning for young children, at home and at school
  • Parents and children learning together
  • Adult education and goal setting for parents
  • Navajo language and culture as part of family learning
  • Connecting families to school and community resources

Families interested in FACE should contact the school office for current enrollment information.

Support at Home

Parents can help by:

  • Read and talk with your child every day, in Navajo and in English.
  • Let your child watch you read, write, cook, count, and plan — you are the first teacher.
  • Keep a predictable daily routine for meals, play, and sleep.
  • Bring your child into everyday tasks and talk through what you are doing.
  • Practice K’é — kindness, respect, and relationship.
  • Ask FACE staff about resources for your own learning goals too.
  • Stay in touch with the school about how your family is doing.
